I'm going to need help moving, btw

I'm going to start asking now. I do not currently have a valid drivers licence and probly will not have one before I move. I need someone with with a truck to help me. I don't really have a lot of stuff, but I do have some rather large items (my bed and a table) that do warrant a truck. Like a small pickup will be fine.

Another possibility would be someone with a valid driver's licence that would be willing to drive a rented truck.

Any help would be appreciated.

The lease is signed

And with careful budgeting over the next month, I will be in the new place July 1st.

Awesomeness.

My current land lord is sad to see me go. I think I was one of the few good tenants he had. Also since the people in the other side of the duplex had to be kicked out from not paying, I'm sure this is hitting him pretty hard. I feel kinda bad about it, but I do not want to be in this neighborhood anymore.

Tolerance - we hear it so much these days

And some times I get kinda sick of it.

This blog that Dani posted got me to thinking about it and reminded me of some things I've seen and observations I've made.

While Dani takes a Biblical approach, I'll go more for the realistic.

First a definition -

2 a: sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or
conflicting with one's own b: the act of allowing something : toleration

That's the only one I'm concerned with for this article. While that doesn't say 'all values, all beliefs, all lifestyles, all truth claims are equal' I can certainly see where one could get that impression.

Dani's blog tells me that tolerance is not in the Bible, and that would explain why fundamentalists are so intolerant. I guess we should all be more tolerant towards them. Seriously. If one is truly going to believe in the concept that is tolerance, then even intolerance should be tolerated. They believe their god does not show tolerance, and commands them not to as well. So tolerate it.

But here's what really gets me. I can't tell you how many times I have encountered someone that preaches tolerance, yet is actually rather intolerant. For example one that will speak out for religious tolerance, then protest a Christian holiday display in a public place. It's quite hypocritical if you think about it.

I was just taking a peep at Tolerance.org. They seem to be pretty intolerant of hate and bigotry. While I don't find that to be a bad thing, if one truly agrees with tolerance, shouldn't that be tolerated as well? Just a thought.

There's just as much talk these days about diversity. I've grown to loathe the idea. We seem to want to celebrate diversity by pointing out how we are different and hanging labels on each other. Wouldn't tolerance teach us to ignore that?

It would make more sense to me that a culture, a country even, should spend more time focusing on how it's people are the same. This is how a group, regardless of size, arrives at unity. If our founding fathers were about tolerance and diversity in the modern sense, we would still be bowing down to British royalty. This is how things get done. Come together on how you are the same, put aside how you are different. The very notion of diversity brings disunity. If some one's beliefs or lifestyle offend you, realize they have the freedom to do such. You have just as much freedom to offend them. To deny this impedes on one's freedom of speech and religion. Let's take this wise quote into consideration.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say
it."

That's real tolerance, and not that modern form that can be rather intolerant. Here's a related quote -

"Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too."

There's a great many things that we as human beings are going to disagree on. It's just a simple fact of life. We all have beliefs that make us intolerant of different things. It would not hurt any of us to learn more about people. Understand their motivations. Only then can we have any sense of tolerance. I don't think it is a bad ideal, I do however feel it is one that will never be totally realized.

So, Planet Cafe last night

Was amazing!

When I first arrived there I was nervous to the point where I was shaking. A drink (red headed slut) and a change into drag eased me a little. The fact that I was sharing the stage with seasoned queens, title holders and pageant winners did also make me nervous.

I did 2 performances last night. The first was to Call Me When You're Sober by Evanesence. The crowd loved it. They loved me doing it. I felt so good. I felt like a rock star. And I got so many compliments afterwards.

I was not expecting to do a second performance, good thing I travel with my laptop. between the laptop and my Zen, I've got a rather large music collection. I did Enjoy the Silence again. Still a great performance, but not as well received as my first that night.

Pictures soon to come, if anything you have got to see the huge red & black yarn/rexlace falls I made.

So the industrial-goth cyber-punk goddess may have a new home.

I paid my holding deposit and application fee on a new place. All good until i found out this morning that I'm going to need a co-signer. Yeah my credit is still jacked up. I may be able to get in without it with a higher deposit. I can afford that. The place is cheaper than where I'm at and in a really nice complex. It's a studio. And that's fine. The 2 bedroom I'm in seems huge with just me living there. I want to be out of the ghetto and this looks like a major move up. There's a fitness center there too and that will help me stop being so fat. I'll be saving myself at least $100/month. Which is pretty awesome.

Life is good.

I just need to find a co-signer.

I will not be at Planet Cafe tonight

mainly because of the weather and some transportation issues.

But I will be there Saturday night.

Performing with the cast.

My first time not performing in an amateur show.

You really need to come see me.

Seriously.

Be there.

Or I'll slap a small child.

And take his candy.

I'm but a tiny, insignificant, ignorant bit of carbon...

...dodging a sniper using bollocks for ammunition.

Required viewing for anyone that is not an atheist.

I found it in this blog, which has a lot of other really interesting things as well.

Things have been happening lately, mostly happy fun things.

Friday I jumped on the scale and saw that in the last week I've dropped 10 pounds. Awesome!

I may have partially ruined that with my trip to Sweet Tomatoes later on that day, but I'm glad I went there. They were replacing their chairs and giving away the old ones. I took 2. Now I have a little more in the way of furniture in my rather empty apartment.

Speaking of my apartment, I'm looking for a new one. I want to downsize. I want something smaller and cheaper. I may have found it too. There a few places I'm looking at soon. And my lease is up in July, I'm not renewing. I want out of this ghetto I live in.

Another thing about the apartment. Those annoying neighbor in the other half of the dplex might be out soon. I overheard a conversation between them and the landlord that did not sound very good for them. About time. My last month there might be pretty nice.

I've been playing with Hydrogen and Sprial Synth Modular. I might have to record some of the horrid noise I'm making and post it here. I've been watching this video for an idea for using the 2 together. I'm not looking to do the same thing, just getting idea. Take a wicked drum beat and turn it into something just sick. I'm also going to look into adding some new sounds to the drum machine. Cool noisey stuffs - breaking glass and metal bashing into metal type noises. It's fun. I have to say, a real modular looks more fun to mess with than a soft modular.

So yeah, that's about all. Life is pretty damned awesome.

And so I have written a letter to WND

I'm finding myself to be extremely annoyed with the lies they are spreading about the hate crimes bill. Here's what I had to say -

Subject: I'm quite disturbed at the references being made to HR 1913.

"The Pedophile Protection Act" as it is being referred to on your site. I suggest you read the actual text of the bill, here is an address to find it -

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1913

In no place in the text of the bill is the word pedophile being used. In no way does it legalize or protect pedophilia. What the bill does do is attach a stiffer penalty to violent crimes that are motivated by hate and prejudice. This bill is not limited to sexual preference and gender identity, but also extends to race, color, religion, national origin and disability. Which means it also protects Christians from having violent crimes committed against them. And that's all it is about is violent crimes. In no sense is it going to put you in jail for what you say or what you think.

I want to bring this to your attention as I know quite a few people that consider WND to be a source of truth and yet what is being presented on this matter is anything but. I do understand you beliefs tell you that that homosexuality is immoral. I am not arguing that nor am I suggesting you stifle that. I am, however, suggesting that you fight and honest fight. If spreading you beliefs are part of your agenda, that's cool. Spreading lies to further your agenda isn't. I want to believe you are better than that.

In closing I do want you to know that I will be spreading what I have communicated to you through every means I have available to me. This include publicly posting it in the blog that I keep at http://persephone66.blogspot.com/

I never in any sense considered WND to be a reliable souce of news, not even close. I do know some fundamentalists that believe it like its the Gospel. Here is a link to one of their reports where that are bombarding the Senate with their hate and lies -
http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=97238

Here's another telling of the deviancy they think it promotes.
http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=97957

Finally here is a copy of the bill itself.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1913

I urge anyone reading this that agrees with this bill to contact your senator and spread the word. I guess I could resort to stooping to WND's level and refer to them as bigots, racists and gay-bashers, but I don't know how true that may or may not be.

Got something pretty damned cool in the mail today

That being the cosmetics I ordered from Miss-X.

I ordered 3 items from them - Cult Leader, Mund auf Augen zu, and Purple Death Faerie. I cannot wait to try these on. Unfortunately that's most likely going to be on my day off. I do have a feeling that I'm going to order more, especially if this blog is any indication. That's all her product on her eyes. I'm thinking more colors than what I allready ordered - reds, purples, blues, teals, maybe even greens. Glitters too!

Also included was a post card of Destroyx, autographed by Zoog!

I'm also thinking about going with some anime and Japanese street fashion inspired looks. I did have a few people say I looked Asian at my last performance and I wasn't intending on it, just how it turned out.

I still can't believe it happened.

Last night I won my first amateur drag talent show.

I'm still quite ecstatic.

And I'll be back at Planet Cafe performing with the cast in a week and a half.

Just wow.

Here's the tune you missed me doing.

Sunday, May 3, 2009

So if I think I can sing....

.....Should I try it in a drag show?

I don't really sing when I do drag. I've been toying with the idea of it though.

If anything just to do something a little different.

Any thoughts?

Love thy neighbor? Love to see them evicted.

I'm going to have a talk with my landlord. I've about had it with these scrubs in the other half of the duplex.

While I was getting ready for work tonight, my power just cut off. Less than a minute later it was back on. I stepped outside to see if there was an obvious problem and it my neighbor's power was out. I find my neighbor's live-in boyfriend out there monkeying around in both my breaker box and his. He was having a problem with his stove and because it didn't shut off when he popped his main breaker, then it must be wired in to mine according to him.

It's not.

The stove is on it's own circuit, separate from the main, just like in my place. I had to reset it for them a few weeks ago. I know it's on a separate breaker, I just don't remember which one. But he wanted to argue with me about it. I didn't have time to jelly-dick around with his bullshit. I just padlocked my breaker box (really fucked up that I had to do that), and left for work. When I was leaving I heard him saying to her that it's on my power. Some people just don't listen and really need to get a clue. She was arguing with him to call the landlord. Had I not been going to work, I would have been talking to the landlord.

And so instead I wait until morning. And if I find that he has done anything to the breaker box when I get home, I'm just calling the police. I'm sick of this shit. Bad enough I had to wrap my outside water taps in duct tape to keep them from stealing water, there's has been off for the last month. She did say she would pay me the difference in the water bill, but I have as much faith in that as I do in the holy spirit. Only reason I have not turned them in for that is because I'm trying not amke their situation any worse. Cut them a break, so to speak. I know they are having troubles. But I think enough is enough. You just go and turn off someone's electric with out saying anything.

I'm feeling a bit like Voltaire in this tune -
